Getting Ready for the ASVAB Test

Are you an adult that has a desire to enter the military or are you in the process of fulfilling all of your obligations for MEPS (Military Entrance Processing Station)? What is the ASVAB Test?

The acronym, “ASVAB”, stands for “Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery”. This is a specially-designed, timed test that gauges your proficiency in several aptitudes. The four most critical areas are the knowledge of words, comprehension level when reading paragraphs, mathematics knowledge, and arithmetic reasoning.

All of these count towards what is called the, “Armed Forces Qualifying Test” (AFQT), in terms of scoring. This score allows military personnel to determine if you possess the unique qualifications to enter into one of the armed forces.

Why is the ASVAB Necessary?

As previously outlined, the scoring goes towards your AFQT to ensure you may enlist. Additionally, your ASVAB score helps to determine which occupations or specialties that you qualify. Additionally, it may help in determining if you qualify for any type of signing bonus.

Essentially, the ASVAB test is a key component to your future. Preparation is the key to success. While it is true that there is no program or coaching agency endorsed by the testing program, we here at Miracle Math possess the skills, training, and overall capability of helping you read critically, understand what you read, improve in arithmetic reasoning, and general mathematical knowledge.

By working with us, you are sure to receive an outstanding score in the key critical components of the testing process.

Arithmetic Reasoning and Mathematical Knowledge

When taking the ASVAB test, you will be provided with an arithmetic reasoning test that includes – to date – a total of 16 questions. You will be provided with a total of 39 minutes to read over word problems that will allow you to display your ability to think, to reason, and to solve problems.

The mathematical knowledge test is 20 minutes in length and a total of 16 questions.

This section is a bit more challenging. It will determine your skills in basic algebra, fractions, percentages, exponents, geometry, and similar subject matter.

Cumulative Practice is a Must

Mathematics is a cumulative subject that builds from one skill to another. In order to succeed at it, you must have cumulative practice.

We here at Miracle Math can provide that. We will build your coaching sessions based on your skills, experiences, and needs. In addition to helping you review mathematics, basic arithmetic, and other related topics, we can also assist in optimizing time management skills, improving the way that you study, and your ability to achieve a work-life balance – all of which will have a positive impact on you once your military enlistment is complete.
